Earlier we spent a couple of hours just west of Denver in the foothills town of Golden.
Buffalo Bill Cody, founder of the rodeo and his own Wild West Shows which ran for over 30 years in the US and Europe, is buried here in Golden with his wife Louisa.
Something more and more Colorado towns are seeing is the approved wild grass home lawn. here are a couple I saw while walking the historic area of Golden.
Fascinating, though I'll bet keeping these plantings looking good still takes alot of time.
Buffalo Bill Cody. Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor during the Civil War for services as Western Army Scout, Rider with the Pony Express, Buffalo Hunter for the transcontinental railroad, and founder of the entire concept of rodeo through his development of the Wild West Show.
Near the end of his life, of all the places in the world he had been, including the town of Cody, Wyoming, which he had founded, he chose the top of Lookout Mountain, Golden Colorado, for his tomb. Ever the showman it is said that he declared, "Thousands will come for the view and see me too."
The view is spectacular. Denver and all of it;s suburbs are visible. Four states can be seen on super clear days. Colorado, Kansas, South Dakota and Wyoming. The grave site is strikingly simple, covered solid in quartz crystals.
But I prefer my own Mountain Woman Mona to any other attraction in any scenic park!
That's right... not Beach Bum Mona. No beaches for a while as we traipse around Colorado waiting for the parts and new door to arrive for the coach. But we can live in it till then! The old door does not have to be sent to the factory for a new one to be made!
