Festivals mean FOOD!

Our last full day at Barony Beach Resort and a full day it was! The most unique day at a resort we've ever had.

For today was the date of the Church of the Palms UMC FALL FESTIVAL in Okatie, SC and we had promised to be available to help out any way we could.

We arrived at 10 am and the show was under way.  Mona pitched in several places.  She took pictures for their records, sold jewelry at their ‘estate sale’ (used costume) table, and sold several beautiful photographic artworks that a church member has been producing for a while.

I, on the other hand, found FOOD to assist with. I had never ‘pulled pork’ before.  It was truly an interesting experience!

Bill, and Bill, showed me how and worked with me.  We pulled five entire pork butts today!  Hmmm.  Just what is a pork butt?  Not what you might expect as they have a bone in them and I know my butt has no bones.  You Google it.  I’m too tired from all the pork butt pulling.

At about 2 pm Mona and I had to leave all of our new friends at Church of the Palms to pick up the coach at Boat N RV in Ridgeland. We had a small roof leak in heavy rain somewhere and their techs had determined the AC units simply needed to be tightened down better onto their gaskets.  Simple, no damage done by the water.

A check of the eight coach batteries showed them working at peak levels, and a free roof and awning check showed all above decks is ship-shape. We topped off the propane tank and drove south.

We took FROG back to the Cummin’s Diesel shop in Savannah, GA, where they will repair the broken turbocharger hose, check a few other things having to do with the engine,  and hold it for us till we return from our TOAD ONLY trip to North Carolina to see our in-laws (Mona’s brother Marty’s family) near Raleigh and Winston-Salem.

We arrived back at the Barony this afternoon in time for a wonderful walk on the beach. This was re-affirmation for Mona that an ocean beach, with sun, at 75 or a bit above, and a pool nearby so ‘beach or pool’ is always a choice is just about heaven.  So long as a comfy chair and a good book is very nearby!

Then Mona made a satisfying meal of the last refrigerable leftovers, washed the clothes, and I am writing this as we both prepare to dive back into our current reads for the evening.
